Step 1
When buying cucumbers, choose the straight ones, which are easier to cut. Wash and cut off both ends. Hold the cucumber vertically with two chopsticks and slice it thinly, as shown in the figure, to make it easier to pull apart.
2

Step 2
Try to hold the cucumber with the thicker end of the chopsticks and cut carefully, making sure to cut through the entire root, resulting in 2/3 of the cucumber being cut open and 1/3 still connected.
3

Step 3
Rotate the cucumber 180 degrees and hold it with chopsticks.
4

Step 4
Cut at a 45-degree angle, as shown in the figure, and cut through the entire root.
5

Step 5
After cutting, arrange the cucumber to create a pattern. Gently pull it apart, being careful not to break it.
6

Step 6
Mash garlic cloves into garlic paste. Garlic needs to be oxidized for 10 minutes to have anti-cancer effects, so we can mash the garlic first before cutting the cucumber.
7

Step 7
Mix garlic paste, ginger, vinegar, sugar, salt, and sesame oil to make a garlic sauce. For those who like spicy food, a little chili oil can be added.
8

Step 8
Pour the garlic sauce over the cucumber and it’s ready to serve.
